Nigeria @54: Naij.com Independence Day Contest

Naij.com is proud to present the top finalists of our Naij Independence day contest; last, readers were invited to join the contest by sending in pictures of themselves rocking their native attire and a brief essay on what they like most about Nigeria.
The entries which followed the stated rules were scanned and the best ones have been picked out; from here on the baton has been passed to our Naij readers to be the judges as the entries with the most likes and votes will win our grand prize of a smartphone and other consolation prices. Contestant 1: Charity Atuchukwu
Charity loves her father land, she is proud of the smart minds of her country and considers Nigeria a habitat for the strongest courageous souls with the zeal and passion to keep our land against all odds and evolve amidst criticism; in her own words, “even though we go through challenges, we always come out stronger and better. God bless my country Nigeria.”

Contestant 2: Faith Omorogieva
Faith loves her country because of the envious God-given wealth it boasts of in terms of fantastic people and earthly endowment; she says “what I like most about my beloved country Nigeria is the rich human and natural resources that we are blessed with.”

Contestant 3: Ekesiani Onyeka Chris
Chris loves Nigeria for the numerous beautiful cultures we can boast of, and the fact that we live together even with our differences. He says “what I love about Nigeria is the unity in diversity, despite the fact that we are of numerous ethic groups, we still live together as one.

Contestant 4: Achuonu Chiamaka Judicia
Chiamaka is proud of her country’s numerous cultures and traditions that are still being respected from generations to generations. She says “I love the fact that we Nigerians respect our culture and traditions; even after trips to different countries we still come home, respect our motherland and uphold her integrity.

Contestant 5: Adegoke Ebunoluwa Adetoun
Ebunoluwa is proud of her country for various reasons but her favourite is the vast and rich cultural heritage of Nigeria. She says “what I love most about Nigeria is the deep wealth of culture we have in this nation.”

Contestant 6: Akosa Chioma Azuka
Chioma loves the industrious nature of the typical Nigerian and the liberty we enjoy; in her own words, “what I like about Nigeria is that we have freedom of movement and speech. I also like our talent to produce things like cars, bikes, shoes, cloth, bags etc, we are very productive.”

Contestant 7: Adebowale Tolulope
Adebowale is proud of Nigeria’s naturally regulated climate and rich fertile lands. He says, “what I love most about Nigeria is its weather which is a blessing to us all, and its lands with pretty fertile soil that can grow things without fertilizers.”

Contestant 8: Happiness Onyinyechi Okere
Happiness loves Nigeria because of our resources and ability to survive in the face of adversities. She says “Nigeria is the land where different mineral resources are found. I love Nigeria so much because despite the corruption and terrorism, its citizens have never deviated from the truth and have never been too lazy to tackle the issues that bothers its citizens.”

Contestant 9: Ijeoma Onyeke Esther
Ijeoma loves Nigeria because of the endless opportunities and possibilities it holds. She says, “I believe the world is yet to experience Nigeria’s true potentials, I believe Nigerians are sharp, brilliant and accommodating people, giving the right enabling environment the world will marvel at what Nigeria will become.

Contestant 10: Osodi, Elizabeth Nwakaego
Last but not the least, Elizabeth simply loves Nigeria because it is the land of her birth and like the saying goes, there is no place like home, we all have to love the country we call home; she says “I love Nigeria because I’m Nigerian”.
