Kano Government Declares Work Free Day

Reports coming in from Kano State, northern Nigeria inform that major markets and offices within the metropolis were shut today, Friday, 7 November, 2014 by the state government.
It was gathered that the decision was taken by the government to enable Kano residents obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
The measure was in line with the work free day declared by Government Thursday to ginger awareness and full participation by city dwellers for the important electoral exercise.

Though there was no restrictions of both human and vehicular movement but reports from across the 44 local government areas of the state indicate that residents are to remain within their locality up to 2.00pm before venturing out.
Vanguard reports that there was heavy turnout of prospective voters waiting patiently to commence issuance of the voter cards.
It would be recalled that the  also declared today, Friday, as work free day for public servants to enable them participate in the 3 day distribution and collection of PVC as announced by INEC.

Nigerians would go to the polls next year to elect those that would govern the affairs of the country.
